October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Alabama
In October, communities across Alabama are rallying to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with numerous engaging events aimed at raising awareness and funds for research.
One exciting event is Jeepin’ for a Cure in Clanton on October 11, featuring a “Show N’ Shine” show, Trunk or Treat activities, raffles, and food trucks, with all proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.
Gadsden will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon on October 15, featuring guest speakers to discuss important topics such as mammography and post-mastectomy care. This free event is set to educate and inform the local community.
In Tuscaloosa, volunteers can participate in the Bags of Hope Serve Project on October 17, helping pack care bags for those undergoing breast cancer treatment. Following that, on October 18, Huntsville will hold a 5K Breast Cancer Awareness Color Run, inviting everyone from students to community members to join in a fun and vibrant event.
Other notable events include Charlotte Dawson’s One-Mile Fun Walk and Run in Alabaster (October 19), a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Montgomery (October 22), and All In All Pink at Auburn University (October 24), showcasing performances, health screenings, and giveaways.
Concluding the month, the Calera Goes Pink Golf Tournament on October 30 invites golf enthusiasts to contribute to breast cancer research. As communities unite in these efforts, participation can significantly impact awareness and research funding.
