Austin Peay Women’s Golf Secures First Win of the Season in Huntsville
Huntsville, AL – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s golf team clinched their first team victory of the season at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, finishing the final round with a six-over-par 293. The team started the day in second place, trailing North Alabama by five strokes, but ultimately secured a six-stroke win.
Jordin Cowing was the standout performer for APSU, finishing with a total score of 217 after carding a two-under 70 in the second round and a two-over 74 in the final round, which earned her a tie for second place. Ella Arnzen followed closely behind, shooting a one-under 71 and one-over 73, resulting in a 219 total and a tie for fourth place.
Abby Hirtzel also contributed significantly to the team’s success, moving up to sixth place with a second-round score of 77 and a strong final round of two-under 70 for a total of 221. Jillian Breedlove and Abby Jimenez rounded out the team’s performance, finishing tied for ninth with a 225 total and tied for 47th with 248, respectively.
The APSU women’s golf team now sets its sights on the upcoming Riverbend Invitational in Houston, Texas, on March 9-10, where they aim to build on their recent success.
